MEET THE TEAM
Ian Billson
Ian Billson
One of the fastest Contact Lens Fitters in the U.K. ( I used to do track days on a very fast bike - 1000cc Yamaha ).
I try to take my birthday present into work with me a few days a week. Most say she is Gorgeous, but we call her Poppy.
We use her as our meet and greet ( she won't try to sell you anything, just happy with a tummy tickle ).

Dispensing Optician
Dispensing Optician
I have been in optics since 1990 and qualified as an optician in Greece in 1994. I moved to the UK and qualified as a Dispensing Optician seven years ago, and although I miss the Greek weather and sea, I haven’t regretted my decision.
With over 25 years of experience in optics, I believe that I have dealt with almost every different situation an optician can come across, so if you think that you have a challenge for me, just bring it on! I’ll appreciate it.
In my free time I enjoy Netflix series and internet memes. My favourite holiday is a road trip of 4000 miles, in two weeks, with 3 friends in the car.

Group Manager
I have been in Optics for over 30 years, running optical labs and High St practices in Cambridgeshire and Australia. More recently working in Account Management and training optician practices on new lens innovations. Now I’m enjoying being back in practice and working for as part of the Billson Family.
Regardless of where I’ve been, if I'm not in an Opticians I’ll be found on a riverbank or a golf course!
ABOUT HAVERHILL
Haverhill dates back as far as Saxon times and its market is listed in the Domesday Book.
During the late middle-ages, Haverhill prospered as a significant trading centre and later becoming
a minor centre of the woollen industry and weaving town.
a minor centre of the woollen industry and weaving town.
By 1620 Haverhill was a well-known Puritan town and the area supported Parliament against the King in the Civil Wars. Following the ‘great fire’ 14 June 1667 the population of Haverhill declined severely and prosperity wasn’t returned to the town until the 1748 when Gurteen’s textiles established in the town. Following this, several other enterprises chooses Haverhill as home.
Gurteen’s gifted the town with its fine Town Hall and at one time, Haverhill had at least 3 windmills.
Following the Second World War, Haverhill was earmarked as an 'overspill town' for London which had been very heavily bombed leaving thousands of people without homes and in the 1950’s the expansion of Haverhill began with both residential and industrial estates being built.
Perhaps the most famous landmark in Haverhill is Anne Of Cleves House constructed in 1540 as part of the divorce settlement between King Henry VIII and Anne of Cleves.
Haverhill was named after pirate Haver. Hjalmar (nicknamed Halfdane or Halver by the Danes) was the son of one of the greatest Danish warriors, Ragnor Lodbrook and his Norwegian wife. From a marauding Danish pirate Haver rose to conquer much of England and even defeat the noble Alfred the Great in battle.
