    CHOOSING YOUR SPECTACLES

Choosing you new spectacles is a very important job. Selecting the right frames and lenses combinations with the appropriate coatings will give you the best vision.

Billson Opticians have expert dispensing staff to ensure that the spectacles you choose are the right spectacles for your visual and aesthetic requirements.

The choice of both frames and lenses can be a little overwhelming so we always have someone on hand to guide you through the process and answer the questions you may have.

    OUR FRAME RANGE

We like to make sure that we always have something different for you to see. You won’t find the same boring brands at Billson Opticians. We source frames from all over the world to bring you something you won’t find in your typical High Street opticians and we don’t order in bulk, so you won’t see friends wearing the same glasses as you!

Your frame choice is just as important to the finished spectacles as the lenses. Choosing the right frames and lenses will make sure that your new specs are aesthetically pleasing and give you the best vision.

    SUSTAINABLE EYEWEAR

Born in Cambridge, Coral Eyewear fully embraces its passion for the environment and sustainability. Using waste pulled from our seas and oceans and from landfill to create ECONYL regenerated nylon reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90% compared with nylon made from oil.

Spectacles frames and sunglasses are stylish, simple and wearable. Not varnished, glossed or lacquered to further reduce damage to the environment. Even the cases are fully recycled.

What makes them even better? You can return them to be recycled again when you’ve finished with them. AND get 10% off your next Coral Eyewear frames.

Available as spectacles or sunglasses. Sunglasses can be made to your prescription

    LENSES

The marriage of frames and lenses to make the perfect, sophisticated pair of spectacles is an art.
The style, shape and fit of the frames is vital to the comfort of the glasses and the performance of the lens.

    Visualising: Family Eyecare since 1930

Lens technology has leapt forwards in recent years and the choices you have today are better than they’ve ever been.

Our lifestyles have changed to see us using technology much more than ever before and lenses have had to adapt and evolve to fulfill our changing needs.

    PROGRESSIVE LENSES

Progressive lenses are designed to incorporate distance vision, intermediate and near vision all in one lens with the power blending seamlessly from distance in the upper part of the lens, through mid-range, to near vision in the lower part.

Specialising in individualised digital progressive lenses Billson Opticians can ensure lenses created precisely for you to perfectly balance your prescription, your frames and the way you wear your spectacles, giving you the most perfect vision for your lifestyle.

    SINGLE VISION LENSES

Single vision lenses have one power across the whole lens.

Often thought of as the simplest type of spectacle lens, technological advances in digital calculation of the surface powers has given more choice to the discerning spectacles wearer. For those people with a higher or more complicated prescription, digitally surfaced lenses can give sharper clarity of vision and increased visual perception in the peripheral areas. ‘Wow!’ is the word we commonly hear from new digital single vision wearers.

    OCCUPATIONAL LENSES

Occupational or degressive lenses are designed for people who need to see well close up and in the intermediate area, but also want to be able to see their tv; the smart board on the wall or even just people coming into the office. Think of them as a room defined lens.

The areas they give for near and intermediate are wider than in a progressive lens which is valuable to anyone who works across screens; drawing boards or maybe likes to sew in front of the tv or play snooker.

Less occupational these days and more ‘lifestyle’.

    ANTI-FATIGUE LENSES

Designed originally for young professionals, Anti-Fatigue lenses are a special type of single vision lens. We all spend much more time on our computers, tablets and phones now and as a result we notice we are tiring more and earlier.

Anti-fatigue lenses are a single vision lens with a little ‘boost’ at the bottom to give your eyes a bit less to do. They are perfect for anyone who likes to (or has to) spend time on close and intermediate work or play and wants to be less tired at the end of their day, but does not yet need progressive lenses.

    SUN LENSES

    Max Factor glasses 1
One of the most important purchases you can make for your eyecare. Exposure to Ultra Violet light can potentially cause lots of problems for your eyes. Did you know that nearly 10% of all skin cancers are found on the eyelids. Pterygium and pingueculae, macular degeneration, cataract, photokeratitis amongst others can all be attributed in whole or part to exposure to UV.

Protecting your eyes from birth is the ideal way to help maintain their health, but it’s never too late to start.

Available in all lens types. Make a stylish addition to your eyecare wardrobe and do yourself a favour.

Sun lenses or polarised will be fully UV protecting to give you the best protection. Available as single vision or progressive.

    THINNER LENSES

    Max Factor glasses 1
Thinner, lighter and more aesthetically pleasing lenses are available throughout our range. For those people with higher prescriptions, the lenses will become thicker and less visually appealing. A simple option to use a high refractive index aspheric lens, combined with a great pair of frames, can make a world of difference to the finished pair of spectacles.

Discuss your preferences and prescription so that we can advise the best option for you.

SELF TINTING & SMART SUNGLASS LENSES

    Max Factor glasses 1
Adapting to changing light conditions and darkening when you’re outside and the lenses are exposed to UV in the environment.
Starting almost completely colourless, the lenses will quickly achieve up to a full sunglass tint. While not a sunglass, self tinting lenses are a versatile option for many people.

AdaptiveSun lenses are a smarter way to wear sunglasses. Starting with a medium tint intensity, these lenses won’t be too dark in shady areas, nor too light in the sun. Changing the intensity of their tint depending on the amount of UV. Fully UV protecting and also available as a polarized lens.

    Drive Safe Lenses

An everyday lens redesigned to enhance your vision in low light conditions whether that is fog, bad weather conditions or nighttime.

Utilising key design features combined with a specially developed anti-reflection coating, the lenses take advantage of our pupils being more open in poor light conditions to help to reduce perceived glare from oncoming car headlights (or streetlights) and give us a more accurate view of the road both through the windscreen and the mirrors.

Available as single vision and progressive lenses
